Two killed in early morning shooting in Island Harbour

Two people were found dead following a shooting in Island Harbour early this morning (27 April).

The Royal Anguilla Police Force received a report of shots fired sometime between 5.30am and 6am, it said in a press release.

Police and emergency personnel responded to the scene, where two males were discovered with apparent gunshot wounds to their bodies. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are investigating the fatal incident and have not yet released the age or identity of the deceased nor the exact location of the shooting.

In a joint statement, Governor Julia Crouch and Premier Cora Richardson Hodge offered their deepest condolences to the families, friends and loved ones of the two who dies.

“Violence has no place in our society. We stand with the people in rejecting the taking of life of any individual, and are dedicated to fostering peace, security and respect for human life,” they said.

The governor and premier offered their full support to the Royal Anguilla Police Force as they investigate the deaths and pursue a number of active lines of inquiry.

“It is vitally important members of the public share any information they may have that could assist the investigation,” they added.
