Sights set on extended AnguillAir service in 2027 as Boston flights sell out

There is “definitely scope” to expand the AnguillAir services next year, Anguilla’s infrastructure minister has said, after Boston flights sold out before the end of the season.

Jose Vanterpool, speaking at a press conference on 13 April, said he met with executives from BermudAir – the Bermuda-based company behind AnguillAir – during a trip to the island earlier this month.

He said they discussed the performance of the airline and the winter season routes between Clayton J Lloyd International Airport (AXA) and the eastern US hubs of Boston, Baltimore and Newark.

“I’m happy to report that not only are they performing very well, in fact, they would have said maybe they stopped them too soon,” he said.

He said the services from Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) have both finished this month as scheduled.

Meanwhile, the service from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), which is expected to come to an end on 25 April, is fully booked.

“So there is definitely scope for expanding the season beyond April for future seasons,” he said.

Asked if the recent AnguillAir services were a trial, Vanterpool said the plan had always been to run the flights from December to end of April then have a review.

He said the government had planned to look at “the potential of discussing even the possibility of going year round, and the viability of such”.

The minister said that he cannot commit to saying that the service will be year round next year, but BermudAir is “keen to resume operations next winter”.

He added: “It’s likely that next year season will be extended beyond April.”

Vanterpool went on to say that the government will assess the cost to the public coffers of its deal to buy, in part, unsellable seats on certain AnguillAir services.

“A comprehensive analysis will be made to the people of Anguilla in time to come,” he said, adding that this will take place after the final flight on 25 April.

He said this will look at the total government investment as well as the economic impact and growth achieved in Anguilla as a result of the flights.

The AnguillaAir services launched on 17 December 2025, marking BermudAir’s first major expansion since its launch in September 2023.
