The government has bought six acres of land to the north of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School’s Quarter Campus to support future expansion.
The land, which cost just over US$1 million, was originally the property of the Baptist Christian School and includes a three story building.
Anguilla’s education minister Shellya Rogers-Webster announced the acquisition during a government press conference on 9 February.

She said the owners had previously offered the land for sale to the former administration but it was not “taken advantage of”.
“We were able to take advantage of this,” Rogers-Webster said, adding: “The acquisition of this property is critical to the overall development of the secondary school facilities.”
The education minister said that over the next year the government will determine “with the relevant education officials and partners” how the land will be used.
The aim is to have a finalised draft plan of all of the infrastructure projects related to secondary school development.
“It is our hope that we will have most of them housed in that particular area,” she added.
On the cost of the land, Rogers-Webster said it was “well worth the funding that was paid for it”.
Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School, which opened in the 1970s, is Anguilla’s only public secondary school and has educated generations of Anguillian students.
