‘Milestone’ first concrete pour made at new high school technical block

The first concrete pour has been made at the site of the new technical and vocational education and training (TVET) block at Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School.

The work on the cistern slab began on 8 September and is a “significant milestone” in the development of the facility, a spokesperson from the Office of the Premier said.

He added that construction teams will continue progress with the pouring of the footings – setting the foundation for the structure to steadily rise.

On 15 July, the Government of Anguilla officially broke ground at Campus Q to mark the beginning of work at the EC$17 million development.

At the time, principal Trevor Hodge said it is more than just a construction project, rather a statement of commitment to progress, innovation and Anguilla’s young people.

“This wing will serve as a hub for technical and vocational education, equipping our students with the skills needed to thrive in a world that is rapidly changing,” he told those gathered at the site.

“From technology and engineering to construction and design and other skilled trades, this facility will open doors and inspire futures.”

The block will deliver modern facilities for agricultural science, construction trades, metalwork, woodwork, auto-mechanics, as well as a new Teachers’ Centre.

Anguillian engineering consulting firm Synergy Consulting is managing the build under the leadership of managing director Jerome Richardson and Mark Jno-Baptiste, director of engineering and design.

Shellya Rogers-Webster, Minister of Social Development, Education and Library, Youth and Culture, said the plan is to “have the doors open” by September 2026.
