YouTube megastars tour Anguilla as part of global travel series

A team from the internationally popular YouTube channel TFIL visited Anguilla as part of their ambitious quest to travel to every country in the world in alphabetical order.

Their 48-hour stay on the island last June is featured across three recently released episodes of their fast-paced travel series.

The first video titled ‘We found a puppy sanctuary on a secret island’, which was posted on 12 May, has already amassed nearly 40,000 views and 298 comments.

A highlight of the episode was a visit to Anguilla Animal Rescue Foundation (AARF) in Sandy Hill, where the visitors spent time interacting with the animals and learning about the shelter’s efforts.

Johanna Pasila, co-chair of the Shelter Committee at AARF, told Anguilla Focus she was sent an email last summer from TFIL asking if they could come and record part of their video at the shelter.

“They are big animal lovers and they target a lot of charitable spots in addition to trying to be adventurous and seeing whatever is special about the country in question,” she said.

“We thought it was great and so we said yes. They came straight from the airport to the shelter and spent a good hour or two there and we had a lot of fun.”

In the video, Pasila gives the group a tour of the facility, shares insight into the work of the volunteers and introduces them to some of the resident puppies and kittens.

Later the team enjoy lunch on Crocus Bay before going cliff jumping and snorkelling at Little Bay where they saw a variety of sea life including a spotted eagle ray.

In their second video based in Anguilla, titled ‘Attacked by sea creatures during lightning storm!’, the TFIL content creators go nighttime glow kayaking at Little Bay and spot turtles and stingrays.

Since publication on 14 May it has been viewed more than 43,000 times, and has more than 3,600 likes and 285 comments.

In their final Anguilla-based video, titled ‘Exploring Pablo Escobar’s abandoned island *plane found*’, they take a boat trip to Sandy Island, Prickley Pear Cays and Scrub Island.

They also try their hand at a range of watersports, including e-foiling, paddleboarding and gliding through the sea with a diver propulsion vehicle.

Since being posted on 17 May it has been viewed more than 51,000 times, and has more than 3,300 likes and 230 comments.
