Vote now: Anguilla Sands and Salts up for Caribbean chocolate maker award

Anguilla Sands and Salts is once again in the running for an award recognising the island-inspired gift and souvenir shop as the region’s top chocolate maker.

The company in South Hill has been nominated for Best Chocolatier or Chocolate Work in the Caribbean Baking Awards – a title it proudly claimed last year.

Under the ownership of Josveek Huligar, the shop joins five other chocolate makers from Trinidad and Tobago and St Martin in the running for this year’s award.

In a social media post announcing the nomination on 3 March, the shop described its approach as more than chocolate-making, calling it “a heritage experience”.

“From our deep-rooted history with the Dominican Republic to the hand-harvested sea salts that season our craft, every bar is a testament to the strength and beauty of our island,” the post read.

Reflecting on last year’s success, the shop added: “The Caribbean Baking Awards confirmed what our visitors already knew: the soul of Anguilla is captured in our chocolate.

“We were honoured to take home the title of Best Chocolate in the Caribbean, and we are thrilled to announce that we have been nominated again for 2026.”

Anguilla Sands and Salts is encouraging the public to support its bid to recapture the award this year.

“We need your vote. Help us keep the trophy right here in Anguilla. It only takes a second to support local craft and island pride,” the post said.

The third annual Caribbean Baking Awards is taking place in St Martin from 24 to 26 July and will feature live competitions, celebrity showdowns and a red carpet awards night.
