Valley Primary School becomes sixth in Anguilla to join free lunch programme

Pupils from Valley Primary School can now enjoy free healthy lunches thanks to support from the Richard M Schulze Family Foundation.

The School Feeding Programme kicked off at the education facility in The Valley on 15 September, making it the sixth and final government primary school to join the initiative.

“Every primary school across the island now benefits from nutritious meals that help our children stay focused, healthy, and ready to learn,” a statement from the Office of the Premier said on 16 September.

“Parents at Valley Primary expressed their joy, sharing how the programme has eased the financial burden on families while ensuring their children receive daily balanced meals.”

The Premier’s Office thanked the foundation for its continued partnership and commitment to the future of Anguilla’s students.

During a government press conference on 15 September, youth and education minister Shellya Rogers-Webster said she visited the school during lunchtime and spoke to students, teachers and parents.

“That was a priority for us – to ensure that Valley Primary School got online come September. After all the assessments, we were able to start the programme today.”

She thanked everyone who was involved in making sure the kitchen facilities were ready to delivere lunches to the children.

Richard M Schulze, the founder of Best Buy, created his family foundation in 2004 to give back to the communities where he grew up, raised his family, and built his company.

Best Buy operates two full-service grocery stores in Anguilla – one in the East End on Long Path Road and another in the West End near Meads Bay.
