Two shops in Anguilla robbed at gunpoint within a week

Armed robbers have stolen cash from a Lebanese restaurant and a Chinese supermarket in Anguilla this past week, police have reported.

It is unclear at this stage if the incidents are linked.

The Royal Anguilla Police Force in a Facebook post on Tuesday, 13 August, said an armed robbery took place at Zack Shwarma in George Hill just after midnight.

“A quantity of cash was taken, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. We are currently looking for two suspects in connection with this incident,” the statement said.

Police added that another armed robbery had occurred less than a week earlier on Wednesday, 7 August, at Welcome Supermarket and Wholesale in Stoney Ground.

A masked man (as pictured above) stole money from the cash register at the Chinese supermarket, police said.

The culprit was wearing a yellow t-shirt, dark trousers, black shoes, a black mask and light blue gloves. He carried the cash out of the shop in a green, plastic bag.
