A teenager from Sandy Ground who was arrested in connection with an armed robbery last week has been expelled from Anguilla.
The male, aged under-18, who the Royal Anguilla Police Force declined to name, was detained during investigations into the incident in North Hill on 16 September.
At the time, police reported that a masked robber brandishing a gun stole a gold chain from a maintenance worker at a private property.
A police press officer told Anguilla Focus that officers did not have sufficient evidence to charge him for robbery or any other serious offence.
However, a case was compiled in relation to a summary offence under the Criminal Code, they said, adding that the “appropriate channel” was then used to dispose of the matter due to his age.

The Immigration Task Force was found to be conducting an independent investigation in relation to the boy and alleged offences under the Immigration Act.
“Following the results of investigations, he was handed over to the custody of the Immigration Department and has since been expelled from the island,” police said in a press release.
The press officer added that the police force is “not at liberty” to disclose the boy’s name, age, nor the destination to which he was sent.
During the armed robbery investigations, 20-year-old T’Awn Richardson was also arrested on 17 September. He was charged on 20 September with possession of cannabis.
Richardson appeared before the Magistrate’s Court on 22 September where he was granted bail in the sum of EC$20,000 with one surety.
