In a press release that afternoon, Premier Cora Richardson Hodge said the island was awakened to the news of yet another incident of gun crime and violence.
“While, fortunately, there was no injury or loss of life, the increasing occurrences of gun crime and violence are threatening to overwhelm our beautiful island,” she said.
“The impact of firearm violence is being felt, not just in Anguilla, but also across our Caribbean region.
“The alarming trend of increasing firearm incidents causing injury and death among our adolescents and young men, threatens the safety and well-being of future generations.”
An 18-year-old man was shot multiple times outside the Blowing Point Ferry Terminal on Tuesday, 6 May, leaving him in critical condition in hospital.
Three days after the incident, on Friday, 9 May, two people were killed in two separate shooting incidents in West End and North Valley.
