The Attorney General’s Chambers is inviting members of the public to participate in consultation on two new pieces of draft legislation.
They are the Police and Criminal Evidence Bill (2025) (PACE) and the Bail Bill (2025), a press release from Acting Attorney General Ivor Greene said on 20 October.
The Police and Criminal Evidence Act (2025) seeks to establish clear procedures governing police powers in relation to arrest, detention, questioning, search and the treatment of persons in custody.

The Bail Act (2025) will provide a modern framework for granting or refusing bail, balancing the presumption of liberty with the need to ensure public safety and the administration of justice.
The public consultation will be held at the following times and locations:
- Monday, 27 October, at 6pm – Morris Vanterpool Primary School
- Tuesday, 28 October, at 6pm – Alwyn Allison Primary School
- Wednesday, 29 October, at 6pm – Teacher’s Resource Centre
The opportunity will be afforded to members of the public to share their views and give their input regarding the provisions of the bills.
The public can also submit comments in writing to the Attorney General’s Chambers.
“The chambers urge all persons to make use of this opportunity as these bills are critical to promote transparency and participation in the legislative process,” the acting attorney general said.
“Together, we can ensure that these important laws serve justice, protect rights and strengthen trust in our justice system.”
