A third form student at Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School has been named the winner of Anguilla’s 2025 National Letter Writing Competition.
Princess Cedeno-Fleming was selected from among 26 student entrants from across the island.
This year’s theme invited students to write a letter from the perspective of the ocean, explaining why and how it should be cared for.
Cedeno-Fleming’s heartfelt expression and eloquent writing style stood out to the judges, who praised her creativity and depth of thought.
The competition was organised by the General Post Office and the Department of Education to promote communication and critical thinking skills.
A press release from the post office said the initiative encourages young people to reflect on global issues while practising the art of letter writing.
Cedeno-Fleming’s winning letter will now move on to the international round of the 54th International Letter-Writing Competition for Young People.
The contest is hosted annually by the Universal Postal Union in collaboration with the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and UNESCO.
In the press release, the Department of Education and the General Post Office congratulated Cedeno-Fleming and commended all the students who participated.
