Police have seized several cannabis plants near West End Cemetery, after getting a tip-off from a member of the public.
The Royal Anguilla Police Force announced the discovery of the Class B drug in a press release on Friday, 16 August.
They said officers from the Beat and Patrol Unit, acting on information received, responded to the area in West End Village and during a search, discovered a “quantity of cannabis plants”.
The Drugs (Prevention of Misuse) Act states that it is unlawful for any person to cultivate a cannabis plant, and anyone who does so is guilty of an offence
Police thanked the person who gave the tip for “their invaluable assistance in today’s operation”.
“We are pleased to report that this successful operation was a direct result of the strong relationship between the community and the police,” they wrote.
No arrests have been made at this time, and investigations are ongoing.
Police, in the press release, said the public plays a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of Anguilla.
“Your information and cooperation are essential in helping us address and prevent criminal activities,” they wrote.
