Police find gun parts and ammunition in car after making arrests

Police found gun parts and ammunition in the car of three people they had earlier arrested for unauthorised vehicle use this week.

At about 7pm on Thursday, 15 August, officers from the Royal Anguilla Police Force spotted a grey Toyota Altezza at the Sol Gas Station on Albert Lake Drive in The Valley.

The occupants – a woman, aged 20, from South Hill, an 18-year-old man from Rey Hill, and a man, aged 18, from The Farrington – appeared to be acting suspiciously.

Officers approached the vehicle and asked their identities and who owned the vehicle, but they failed to provide satisfactory responses, according to a Facebook post on 16 August.

Consequently, they were arrested and taken to the police headquarters in The Valley for processing on the offence of ‘taking of conveyance’.

Police conducted a thorough search of the occupants and the vehicle. This led to the discovery of one round of 9mm ammunition and several components of a firearm.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing, the post said.

The 18-year-old from The Farrington had been released from His Majesty’s Prison earlier that day after being arrested for the offence of obstruction on 8 July.
