Police ask for public’s help after report of gunshots in Rey Hill

The Royal Anguilla Police Force is appealing for public help after receiving a report of gunshots fired in Rey Hill over the weekend.

According to a statement on the police Facebook page, the incident occurred at about 11.09pm on Sunday, 24 November.

Officers responded to the report and no-one was found to be injured, however, a jeep may have been involved in the incident, they said.

“The Royal Anguilla Police Force urges anyone with information about this incident or the jeep to come forward,” the statement added.

“Community cooperation is essential in ensuring the safety and security of all.”

The incident comes just days after a group of young men narrowly escaped injury after being shot at while at a home in Island Harbour.

According to the Royal Anguilla Police Force, the men were at a private residence when a white Suzuki Swift approached the location at about 12.20pm on Friday, 22 November.

“Persons wearing masks and dark clothing, armed with firearms, exited the vehicle and discharged multiple rounds in the direction of the young men,” a police statement said.

The victims escaped unharmed, however, the shots caused damage to a building and at least one vehicle.
