A man has died while freediving near the Anguilla Arch on the island’s northwest coast, police have confirmed.
A report was made to the Joint Emergency Services Control Room shortly after 10am on Sunday, 29 March.
The caller requested emergency assistance for an adult male who had reportedly encountered difficulty while diving, according to a press release from the Royal Anguilla Police Force.

After being brought ashore, he was examined by a medical practitioner and pronounced dead.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing, police said, adding that the force extends condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
Police have not yet released the identity of the diver.
