A man charged with possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition and possession of cannabis has been granted EC$60,000 bail.
Shaquan Hodge, 25, of The Forest was charged with the offences on Thursday, 5 September, and appeared at the Magistrate’s Court the next day.
The magistrate granted him EC$60,000 bail with one surety and ordered him to reappear at court on 9 December at 9am.
In a statement on 5 September, the Royal Anguilla Police Force explained the circumstances around Hodge’s arrest.
It said that on Tuesday, 3 September, at about 7pm, officers from the Tactical Unit stopped a vehicle in Swing High in The Valley which Hodge was driving.
Upon searching the car and Hodge, they found a Glock pistol with 12 rounds of .40 calibre ammunition and cannabis.
They then arrested him and brought him to The Valley Police Station.
Commissioner of Police Robert Clark said: “As we continue to work tirelessly to keep Anguilla safe, I want to make it clear that there is absolutely no place for illegal firearms and drugs in our community.
“The Royal Anguilla Police Force will remain vigilant and steadfast in our efforts to remove these threats from our streets.
“I encourage everyone to come forward with any information that can assist us. Together, we can ensure the safety and security of our island.”
