Police arrested a 29-year-old man from Rock Farm following the seizure of a firearm and suspected cannabis during a vehicle checkpoint exercise.
Jaleel Scarborough was later charged with possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, and possession of cannabis.
According to a press release from the Royal Anguilla Police Force, he appeared before the Magistrate’s Court on 21 May where he was granted bail in the sum of EC$80,000 with one surety.
The items recovered on 19 May were secured as evidence and will undergo further forensic processing.
In the press release, Superintendent Shem Wills said the Royal Anguilla Police Force maintains a zero-tolerance approach to illegal firearms.
“We will continue to pursue proactive policing operations to detect, deter, and disrupt the possession and movement of illegal weapons within our communities,” he added.
“The safety and security of the people of Anguilla remains our top priority.”
