A 33-year-old landscaper from Island Harbour was fined EC$300 after pleading guilty to the offence of criminal trespass in the Magistrate’s Court.
Lamech Connor also pled guilty on 23 August to the offence of throwing missiles and was placed on a bond of $500 for three months.
The bond requires him to be of good behaviour, to keep the peace, and have no contact with anyone involved in the matter.
Failure to comply with these conditions will result in his arrest and a subsequent court appearance for sentencing, according to a statement from the Royal Anguilla Police Force.
The charges stem from a report made to the police saying that Connor went to the home of his ex-girlfriend’s current boyfriend on 21 August.
While he was there, he threw rocks at the house and poured a flammable substance on several parts of the property, the police statement said.
Connor was arrested on 21 August and charged the following day for the two offences.
“Such actions not only pose a significant threat to individuals’ safety but also disrupt the peace within our communities,” the police statement said.
It went on to say that the force will continue to arrest and charge anyone involved in such unlawful activities.
“We also urge the public to seek assistance in dealing with domestic or personal disputes. There are resources and support systems available to help those in challenging situations,” police said.
“Engaging in violent or destructive behaviour is never the answer and can lead to serious legal consequences.”
