Anguilla’s newly crowned calypso monarch Anthony ‘Dr Splinter’ Bryan has won this year’s Leeward Islands Calypso Monarch Competition.
He beat first runner up Isidore ‘Mighty Dow’ York from St Martin in the regional competition, held at the new Landsome Bowl Cultural Centre in The Valley.
Former winner Keithroy ‘De Voice’ Morson from Montserrat walked away with the second runner up prize on Saturday, 10 August.

Dr Splinter came first in the ANGLEC Calypso Monarch Competition, held at Landsome Bowl Cultural Centre on Thursday, 8 August.
He won a 2024 Changan CS35 car with personalised number plates – CLYP24.
During the prize giving ceremony on 15 August, he said: “I really wanted to sing for the 50, a couple of things, to show them who’s the boss, and to go out on a big high, undefeated.”
He declared that he will not be competing in the calypso monarch competitions again.
