High school closes due to ‘unforeseen challenge’ with bus service

Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School was closed today, 25 February, due to low attendance caused by an “unforeseen challenge” with the bus service.

The Department of Education issued a notice on the closure for parents, students, teachers, staff and the general public.

It explained that the buses transport the majority of the school’s students to the facility “so turn out is very low”.

“Therefore, the Department of Education has decided to forgo the sessions at Campus A and B for today,” it said.

The notice added that arrangements were being made to transport the few attending students home.

A spokesperson for the Department of Education told Anguilla Focus that the type of challenge with the bus service and time of resolution were “not clear”.

But they added that students will be off school for the rest of the week due to the use of the school for the general election as well as a previously scheduled mid-term break.
