Excavation work has begun at the site of a multi-million dollar mega yacht marina development on the southwest coast of Anguilla.
Port Nimara, located between Cap Juluca, A Belmond Hotel, and the Altamer Resort near Maunday’s Bay, will feature 118 boat berths, a five-star hotel, and 18 beachfront villas.
In a press release, project lead SF Group said the development will be “a transformative maritime destination set to redefine Anguilla’s economic and tourism landscape”.
The venture is being run in partnership with Anguillian company Antillean Development and New York-based development group TEI Inc.
It is expected to generate 200 direct employment opportunities and create about 500 jobs across hospitality, maritime, retail, and support sectors, the press release said.
Construction
Anguilla’s first mega yacht marina will accommodate boats up to 260 feet long, and will include a nearby 62-room five-star hotel managed by a luxury New York brand.
The project also includes 18 beachfront villas, with plans for an additional 18 upland villas, and a luxury restaurant and retail space.
SF Group has integrated sustainable design principles to ensure the project harmonises with Anguilla’s marine ecosystem, incorporating advanced environmental protection measures, the press release said.
Constructed by Consigli, a leading construction management based in Massachusetts, Port Nimara will include a premium yacht club, and advanced customs and immigration services.
It will also boast a waterfront promenade, sophisticated security systems, and comprehensive maintenance services, the press release said.
A ceremonial groundbreaking took place at the site on 7 December, 2023, before government officials and project, stakeholders, marking the official start of the development.
