Excavation work begins on multi-million dollar mega yacht marina

Excavation work has begun at the site of a multi-million dollar mega yacht marina development on the southwest coast of Anguilla.

Port Nimara, located between Cap Juluca, A Belmond Hotel, on Maunday’s Bay and Altamer on Shoal Bay West, will feature 118 boat berths, a five-star hotel, and 18 beachfront villas.

In a press release on 5 January, project lead SF Group said the development will be “a transformative maritime destination set to redefine Anguilla’s economic and tourism landscape”.

The venture is being run in partnership with Anguillian company Antillean Development and New York-based development group TEI Inc.

It is expected to generate 200 direct employment opportunities and create about 500 jobs across hospitality, maritime, retail, and support sectors, the press release said.

A spokesperson for SF Group said construction of the marina is expected to be completed in early 2027, while the beachfront villas and hotel will follow in early 2028.

Construction

Anguilla’s first mega yacht marina will accommodate boats up to 260 feet long, and will include a nearby 62-room five-star hotel managed by a luxury New York brand.

The project also includes 18 beachfront villas, with plans for an additional 18 upland villas, and a luxury restaurant and retail space.

The press release said SF Group has integrated sustainable design principles to ensure the project “harmonises” with Anguilla’s marine ecosystem, and is using advanced environmental protection measures.

Built by Consigli, a construction management company based in Massachusetts, Port Nimara will include a yacht club, and customs and immigration services.

It will also feature a waterfront promenade, security systems and maintenance services, the press release said.

Government officials and project stakeholders attended a ceremonial groundbreaking at the site at Gull Pond on 7 December, 2023, marking the official start of the development.
