In his new role, he will join help to design and implement evidence-based programmes aimed at reducing youth violence, preventing crime, and promoting community engagement.
His efforts will centre on prevention, intervention, rehabilitation and reintegration, while spearheading initiatives that strengthen families, foster community integration, and support peace-building.
Douglas will also be responsible for cultivating critical partnerships with stakeholders such as community organisations, schools, law enforcement, correctional institutions and social services.
Douglas brings over 17 years of distinguished service with the Royal Anguilla Police Force to the role, a press release from the Ministry of Social Development and Education explained.
During his tenure, he held various key roles, including in the Major Crime Unit, Prosecution Department, Community Beat and Patrol, and as a senior leader in the Safeguarding Investigation Unit.
Renowned for his methodical approach and professionalism, Douglas has earned recognition for his ability to engage with vulnerable populations, support families and mentor young people.
“His unwavering dedication to fostering positive development and addressing the root causes of youth-related challenges underscores his commitment to public service and community empowerment,” the press release said.
Both permanent secretary Bonnie Richardson-Lake and community services planner Hyacinth Augustine-Bradley expressed their excitement about Douglas’ appointment.
“His extensive experience, exemplary work ethic, and passion for community development make him exceptionally well-positioned to drive impactful change and advance the ministry’s mission to create safer, more inclusive, and resilient communities,” they said.
