Blowing Point is set for a major transformation with the arrival of Andy’s – a new all-in-one hospitality and car rental hub just steps from the ferry terminal.
With a panoramic sea view and open-air design, the facility promises a more comfortable, convenient and welcoming experience for travellers arriving in Anguilla.
The sleek, purpose-built space will house a Caribbean fusion restaurant, a French-style pastry counter, flexible rental units upstairs, and a popular car rental agency – all under one roof.
For Andy Connor, founder of Andy’s Auto Rentals and the visionary behind the project, it’s about elevating the first impression of Anguilla.
“This is the main port of entry,” Connor tells Anguilla Focus. “This is where 80 percent of people come into – so whatever you do here, you have to do it right.”
From modest beginnings
Connor was aged just 16 when a tourist stepping off the ferry, frustrated by the lack of transport options in Anguilla, suggested he should start offering car rentals himself.
Too young to legally insure a vehicle on his own, the budding entrepreneur teamed up with a supportive adult to get his business off the ground – and never looked back.
What began with a single car and a big ambition has steadily grown into one of the most trusted and well-established rental companies on the island.
Today, Connor’s diverse fleet includes more than 60 vehicles – from luxury SUVs to nimble scooters – designed to meet the needs of every kind of traveller.
Building on the success of his rental company, Connor is expanding his business into a vibrant brand rooted in hospitality, convenience and the spirit of island life.
The new location at Blowing Point will serve as the flagship for this next chapter.
Food, views and flexibility
Set to open by August 2025, the ground floor of Andy’s will feature a full-service restaurant offering a blend of Caribbean and Asian cuisine.
The concept leaves room for collaboration, too. Connor is open to subletting parts of the kitchen to talented local chefs who want to showcase their creativity.
The space is designed for easy flow throughout the day, with indoor-outdoor seating, sea views, and a relaxed atmosphere suited to everything from breakfast meet-ups to afternoon drinks.
Alongside the restaurant, a pastry counter will serve breakfast favourites and French-inspired baked goods.
The upstairs area is ready for use as either office space or short-term rentals, depending on demand.
A family story, a rare victory
Connor’s journey to this moment hasn’t always been easy.
Although his family has owned the land in Blowing Point for generations, the government attempted to reclaim it for public use under compulsory acquisition laws.
In an unusual reversal, the land was returned to Connor’s family – a rare and significant win.
“Once the government takes it from you, it’s gone,” Connor says. “But they ended up giving it back to us, and now my family and I have the rights to use it.”
Construction began about a year ago, following delays caused by the land dispute and global supply chain challenges.
As with much on the island, importing materials has been slow and complicated – but Connor remains optimistic.
“It’s island time – it takes a while to get stuff done,” he says with a smile. “But it’s happening.”
A one-stop shop
A bold new addition to Blowing Point, Andy’s will become the first full-scale restaurant and multi-use space near the ferry terminal.
From a sea-view bar and buttery croissants to efficient car rentals and flexible accommodation upstairs, it is set to become the vibrant heart of the ferry terminal area.
Whether you’re picking up a car, waiting for your ride, meeting friends for a drink, or craving a warm bite and ocean breeze, Andy’s will be ready to welcome you.
It will be a place where island hospitality meets forward-thinking service, all conveniently under one roof.
