Baseball charity donates 250 pieces of equipment to Anguilla’s youth players

A United States-based charity has donated more than 250 pieces of baseball equipment to Anguilla’s youth players, as part of an initiative aimed at expanding access to the sport.

‘Pitch In’, which was founded by Vinay Rajadhyaksha, focuses on collecting and distributing new and gently used equipment across the Caribbean, Central and South America.

During a recent visit to the island, the group delivered bats, gloves, helmets, catcher’s gear and training equipment, new practice and game uniforms, bags and footwear.

According to a government press release on 10 April, the donation is intended to support both participation and development, giving young athletes the resources needed to train and compete.

Rajadhyaksha said the initiative was about more than equipment, describing it as an effort to create opportunity and build confidence through sport.

“Every child deserves the chance to play, compete and grow through sports,” he said. “We were honoured to support the youth baseball community in Anguilla.”

The visit also included on-field sessions where volunteers worked directly with players, offering coaching support and skills development as part of the wider outreach programme.

Local sporting representatives and officials welcomed the initiative, which they said would help strengthen grassroots baseball on the island and encourage greater participation among young people.

The charity acknowledged support from the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Anguilla, along with local government representatives, for helping facilitate the programme.

Pitch In plans to continue expanding its work across the region, with further outreach trips aimed at supporting underserved baseball communities throughout the Caribbean, Central and South America.
