Anguillian ICT educators take technology skills to the next level

Four Anguillian educators have earned certifications from the global nonprofit organisation – International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).

Through a 10-week online course and extensive portfolio project, they gained skills in using technology creatively to improve education in Anguilla.

The recipients are information and communication technology (ICT) teachers Sandra Liddie-Gumbs, Shanette Smith and Denise Warrington, as well as ICT curriculum officer Wenonah J Lawrence.

A statement from the Department of Education on 12 September said the “incredible achievement” reflects dedication to integrating technology into their practices and empowering students for the digital world.

It added that the journey toward ISTE certification was an “intense, rigorous and demanding one”, however, the educators rose to the challenge.

“Achieving ISTE certification highlights their commitment to continuous growth ensuring they are at the forefront of educational innovation,” the department said.

“Through support from the Department and Ministry of Education, as well as the International Society for Technology in Education, this certification opportunity was made possible

“By establishing partnerships, we are shaping the future of education and preparing our students for the opportunities of tomorrow.”

Final portfolio submissions were made in June and July, and certifications were awarded on 5 September.
