Anguillian cricketer first in Leeward Islands to pass 500 runs this season

Anguillian cricketer Jahmar Hamilton has become the first player in the Leeward Islands Hurricanes to surpass 500 runs this season, marking a significant milestone in his career.

He achieved the feat during a match against Barbados Pride at Warner Park in Saint Kitts and Nevis in this year’s West Indies Championship four-day tournament.

In a Facebook statement, the Department of Sports offered massive congratulations to the batsman on his “incredible milestone”.

“Your hard work, passion and dedication to the game continue to inspire us all and the next step of young cricketers in Anguilla. Here’s to many more achievements ahead,” it read.

The government also shared Hamilton’s achievement in a Facebook post and said it is proudly celebrating the significant milestone.

“This outstanding performance is a testament to Jahmar’s dedication, discipline and passion for the sport,” it said.

“His success not only brings pride to Anguilla but also inspires young athletes across the region.

“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Jahmar Hamilton and wish him continued success both on and off the field.”

The Leeward Islands Hurricanes are a first-class cricket team representing Antigua and Barbuda, St Kitts and Nevis, Anguilla, Montserrat, and Sint Maarten.

They compete in regional competitions including the West Indies Championship and the Super50 Cup.
