Women across Anguilla will be honoured next month as part of International Women’s Day celebrations, with a special service recognising their contributions and achievements.
It will take place at 3pm on 8 March at the Pro-Cathedral of St Mary in The Valley, and the public – particularly women and women’s groups – are invited to attend.
The event forms part of Women’s Week and will be held under the theme ‘Rise and thrive: Women in action, shaping communities’, highlighting women as leaders, innovators and change-makers.
The organisers are the Gender Affairs Unit, the Anguilla National Council of Women, the Anglican Church Women Association and the University of the West Indies Alumni Association – Anguilla Chapter.
In a press release, the Gender Affairs Unit said: “The organising committee remains proud to continue their collaboration in hosting this commemorative service.”
The service will feature the presentation of the 2025 RISE Women’s Awards and a call to action for advancing women’s equality.
A special offering will also be collected in support of the Department of Social Development’s personal and developmental initiatives for the young people.
Observed annually on 8 March, International Women’s Day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women worldwide.
A full line up of events and updates on Women’s Week will be posted on the Gender Affairs Unit’s social media platforms.
