Anguilla Tennis Academy visits Tennis Central Academy in Maryland

Members of the Anguilla Tennis Academy (ATA) have returned from a “productive and inspiring” visit to the Tennis Central Academy in Bethesda, Maryland.

ATA founder Mitch Lake and director Tristin Rogers led the trip, joined by ATA player Reynah Lico and her mother, Dawnette Lico.

The visit provided opportunities for collaboration, observation and development, and the ATA leadership explored ways to enhance programmes in Anguilla.

In a press release on 24 October, Lake said: “ I’m grateful for the warm hospitality we received from our hosts.

“These strategic partnerships will open many academic and sporting opportunities for ATA students in the future.”

For Lico, the trip offered a platform to showcase her talent among coaches and peers in a competitive international environment.

As part of the trip, the delegation also visited Foxcroft School, one of the leading all-girls boarding schools in the United States.

They met with school officials and current Foxcroft student Zuri Babrow, who attends on a scholarship facilitated by the ATA while continuing her tennis training.

The group also toured The Madeira School, another all-girls boarding school, where they had the opportunity to learn about its history and academic programmes.

Beyond tennis and academic engagements, the delegation also took visited Washington DC’s where they took in several landmarks and monuments.

In the press release, Rogers said the trip to Washington DC and Virginia was “truly inspiring”.

“Watching our player train with Coach Yann at one of the most prestigious facilities, surrounded by some of the best coaches DC has to offer, reminded me what dedication and excellence look like up close.”

The ATA thanked Yann Auzoux, CEO of the Tennis Central Academy, for his hospitality and continued support of the Anguilla Tennis Academy.
