Primary and secondary schools across Anguilla are getting ready to participate in a regional Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) census.
The survey on students’ perceptions on education transformation within the OECS will run from 11 to 14 November.
Pupils from kindergarten classes right up to fifth form are invited to respond to developmentally appropriate questionnaires conducted under supervision at schools.

The purpose of the OECS census is to ensure that students can have a say in the development of the new 10-year OECS Education Sector Strategy, a Department of Education press release said.
Inclusion of children’s views aligns with best practice and has several benefits including the promotion of student agency and involvement in decision-making, and a student-centred approach to education.
The region-wide census will help identify shared trends and challenges within the OECS and the data will inform collaborative efforts, policy alignment and shared solutions among member states.
Anguilla’s chief education officer Bren Romney said participation is voluntary and anonymous
“But we encourage parents to support their children’s participation. It is an opportunity for your child’s voice to be heard and to shape the future of education in the OECS,” he added.
Romney said students are asked from time to time to complete Government of Anguilla and Department of Education questionnaires and surveys.
Two local surveys – Sports Participation and Awareness and Valuing Education – will be executed within the next week and a half.
