Eleven pioneering figures have been honoured for their vital roles in shaping and advancing Anguilla’s aviation industry.
The Anguilla Air and Sea Ports Authority (AASPA) awarded the recipients with stone plaques in recognition of their hard work and dedication on Friday, 12 December.
The presentation took place during the milestone opening of the island’s new multi-million-dollar terminal at Clayton J Lloyd International Airport.

AASPA director Aunika Webster-Lake said the awards were to “give thanks for their steadfast commitment to the purpose and calling of service at the [formerly named] Wallblake Airport”.
The awardees were Kirkland Carty, Kenneth Rogers, Evadney Richardson, Maurice Connor, Cardigan Gumbs, David Reid, Pieter Carter, Remington Lake, Clydella Carty, and Debrah Connor.
Each played vital roles in the establishment, growth and advancement of the aviation sector, holding positions such as airport manager, ground handler, aeronautical engineer, pilot and more.
A posthumous award also went to Anguilla’a first air traffic controller, Fabian Richardson.
Jacqueline Bryan-Niles, permanent secretary in the Ministry of Infrastructure, presented the plaques.
Webster-Lake congratulated the pioneers and said the awards are a reminder that airports are more than runways and terminals.
“They are built on the dedication, sacrifices and vision of people who showed up faithfully, often quietly and always with purpose,” she said.
“Their commitment laid the foundation upon which today’s aviation industry and Anguilla stands, and their legacy will continue to guide those who follow.
“May we never forget their contributions, and may we be inspired to serve with the same integrity, pride and devotion as we move confidently into this new chapter of our Airport’s history.”
