Anguilla Focus to donate first payment of all new memberships to AARF

For the next three months, Anguilla Focus will donate the first month’s payment from every new membership to the Anguilla Animal Rescue Foundation (AARF).

By becoming a member, readers will not only support independent, community-focused journalism, but help to provide care for animals in need across the island.

Johanna Pasila, co-chair of the AARF shelter committee, said: “AARF is delighted and grateful to Anguilla Focus for choosing to donate a portion of its subscription fees to support our work.

“As an animal welfare organisation that operates entirely on donations and fundraising, we warmly welcome this thoughtful and creative community support, which will go directly toward the care of our shelter animals.”

Memberships for Anguilla Focus are available at three affordable tiers – US$3, $5, or $10 per month – and offer unlimited access to exclusive content, editorials, giveaways and discount codes.

Editor Rebecca Bird said: “We’re not supported by wealthy investors or shareholders, so we rely entirely on our members to keep our reporting independent and sustainable.

“We are so grateful to everyone who joins our membership community, and are excited turn every new sign-up into support for a local cause in the coming months.”

AARF runs the island’s only animal shelter in Sandy Hill, where it is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and homing stray, abandoned and unwanted cats and dogs.

Every year, the small non-profit helps hundreds of animals in Anguilla find safety, medical care and loving homes. To date it has contributed to about 3,500 adoptions.

Some find homes locally, while others begin a new life abroad, travelling to the US and beyond through partnerships with rescue groups such as Fly To Freedom Dog Rescue.

AARF also runs education and spay and neuter programmes to reduce the number of unwanted animals.

Making it all possible is a dedicated team of dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to give every animal that comes through AARF’s doors a second chance at life.
