Top culinary professionals have jetted off to St Kitts for Grill Fest, a regional showdown that forms part of the island’s annual Restaurant Week activities.
The Anguilla Culinary Team – Kelston ‘Chef Sweets’ Connor, Jamal Hodge, Raven James, and Kendrick Richardson – left on 24 July, ahead of the competition on 26 July.
The are accompanied by ‘Grill Master’ Jermain Hodge, who brings a wealth of experience and passion to the event, a press release from Anguilla Hotel and Tourism said on 24 July.
Grill Fest is a one-day event that draws grill enthusiasts from across the region to compete for the coveted title of Grill Master in four categories: fish, chicken, pork and lobster.
Beyond the competition, it offers a family-friendly atmosphere celebrating the vibrant flavours and cultures of the Caribbean at the scenic Frigate Bay Lawn, the press release said.
The Anguilla Culinary Team operates under the auspices of the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association (AHTA).
AHTA CEO Cherecia Lewis, who was at the Clayton J Lloyd International Airport to see the team off, wished them well as they departed.
“We are proud to support these talented culinary ambassadors who represent the very best of Anguilla’s food culture,” she said in the press release.
“The AHTA is committed to fostering professional growth and regional exposure for our hospitality talent. We wish the team great success in the competition and know they will make Anguilla proud.”
