Anguilla celebrated the 101st birthday of much beloved resident and Anguilla’s oldest pensioner, Molly Kydd Hodge, this week.
To honour the milestone on 20 May, the Anguilla Social Security Board delivered a birthday message expressing its pride in celebrating her life.
“Mrs Hodge’s life continues to be a shining example of grace, resilience and the enduring spirit of the Anguillian people,” the board said.
“Her journey through more than a century is nothing short of inspiring, and her presence remains a cherished gift to all who know her.”
The board said it was delighted to celebrate the “amazing milestone” with her and extended its warmest wishes for continued health, joy and love.
“Happy 101st birthday, Molly, you are truly one of a kind,” the post finished.
According to a TRUE Anguilla article just before her 100th birthday, Mrs Hodge was born in 1924 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.
She was born to an Anguillian mother, Emmeline Gertrude Roges, and a father from Bequia, Ernest Ferdinand Kydd. The eldest of five children, she was their only daughter.
Her early life included time in New London, Connecticut, where her father worked as a deep-sea fisherman.
She visited Anguilla in 1948, fulfilling a promise to her grandfather, and eventually settled on the island.
Her story is marked by resilience, community involvement and a strong connection to her Anguillian heritage.
Anguilla Focus extends heartfelt birthday wishes to Molly Kydd Hodge as she celebrates 101 inspiring years.
