AFA hosts friendlies tournament for regional U-14 female footballers

The Anguilla Football Association (AFA) hosted a three-day tournament for young female athletes from across the Caribbean this summer.

The 2025 U-14 TDS Girls Friendlies Tournament brought together youth teams from Dominica, the British Virgin Islands, St Kitts and Nevis, and Anguilla.

Held at the Raymond E Guishard Technical Centre in The Valley from 25 to 27 July, the event allowed participants to gain competitive experience, showcase their skills, and foster camaraderie.

According to a press release from the AFA on 3 August, it was a “celebration of regional football, youth development, and sportsmanship, drawing enthusiastic support from local fans and visitors alike”.

“With a strong turnout from all four nations, the matches were highly competitive and demonstrated the growing talent and dedication within the region’s youth football programmes.”

Anguilla delivered an outstanding performance throughout the tournament, winning all of their matches and finishing at the top of the standings.

Their success serves as a strong indicator of their readiness for the upcoming CFU U-14 Girls Challenge Series, scheduled to take place later this month in Trinidad and Tobago.

“The momentum gained from this friendly tournament will serve as a valuable stepping stone in their continued development and pursuit of excellence on the regional stage,” the AFA said.

The most valuable players (MVPs) during the tournament were McKenzie Niles (#10) of Anguilla, Keriana Harris (#9) of St Kitts and Nevis, Breanna Briggs (#5) of Dominica and Lily Graham (#4) of the BVI.

The AFA thanked all the teams, coaching staff, match officials, volunteers and supporters who contributed to the “smooth and successful” execution of the tournament.

“Events like these play a crucial role in advancing the sport and providing meaningful opportunities for young athletes across the region,” it added.
