The South Valley community has enjoyed its final Fish Fry of the year, closing a successful season that organisers say has reignited the district’s vibrant and creative spirit.
The Fish Fry, launched in October after the annual South Valley Community Street Festival, has taken place every other Saturday ‘under the almond tree’ and has steadily grown in popularity.
Each event has relied on residents who cook, serve and sell food as well as perform music to raise funds aimed at making next year’s festival even larger and more ambitious.

In a Facebook post on 8 December, organisers from the South Valley Community Club thanked those who have given their time and energy, as well as patrons from across Anguilla and St Martin.

They said the Fish Fry has created a safe, positive space where people can gather peacefully, connect with neighbours and enjoy an atmosphere free of violence and full of community spirit.
“We have always been known for our creativity, our vibrancy and our unity and this year, that spark was reignited,” they said.
The initiative has strengthened bonds across generations, bringing together older and younger residents in a way organisers said reflects South Valley’s long-standing sense of unity and pride.
“We are proud to have created a safe, positive vibe where people can gather, connect and enjoy themselves – no violence, just peace.”
The Fish Fry has also driven significant growth on social media, with organisers expressing appreciation for the increased engagement and sustained public interest throughout the season.
Special thanks were given to patrons who donate supplies or bring extra fish even as events wind down, often staying longer simply to enjoy the sense of togetherness.
The final event on Saturday, 6 December, capped a season that showcased what it means to be from South Valley, organisers said, adding that the community intends to “continue to rise” in the year ahead.
