The Anguilla House of Assembly is moving forward with three modernisation projects aimed at improving the functionality, accessibility and efficiency of the island’s legislative facilities.
They include a new parliamentary website, an AI-supported Hansard system, and an updated strategic plan and human resources review, a press release said on 19 August.
The assembly’s Administration Committee will be carrying out a series of meetings to advance the initiatives throughout the remainder of August and into September.

“These are not just technical upgrades – they are investments in democratic transparency and public engagement,” the committee wrote in the press release.
“When citizens can easily access parliamentary information, follow proceedings online, and search through official records, our democracy becomes stronger and more accountable.”
In its first project, the committee is planning to develop a “dedicated, modern” website that will give Anguilla’s parliament its own independent online identity.
The new platform will provide easy public access to parliamentary records, bills, committee information, member profiles, and live-streamed proceedings.
“Most importantly, it will meet international accessibility standards, ensuring all Anguillians can engage with their democracy,” the committee said.
It also plans to implement a “cutting-edge” technology to modernise how it creates official parliamentary records (Hansard).
The AI-assisted system will transform audio recordings into properly formatted, searchable transcripts that meet Commonwealth standards, making proceedings more transparent and accessible.
Finally, the third project is a comprehensive review of human resources and the finalisation of a 10-year strategic plan.
According to the committee, these modernisation efforts align with Commonwealth Parliamentary Association benchmarks, ensuring Anguilla’s parliament meets international best practices.
The Administration Committee is chaired by speaker Tara Carter and includes five members from each side of the Anguilla House of Assembly.
They are Haydn Hughes, Joe Vanterpool, Kyle Hodge, Merrick Richardson, and Shellya Rogers-Webster.
