Teen charged with robbery and GBH granted $50k bail

A 17-year-old from North Side charged with robbery, grievous bodily harm, and being armed with an offensive weapon has been granted EC$50,000 bail.

The charges are in relation to an incident which occurred on 30 June, police told Anguilla Focus. They did not name the alleged offender.

Officers from the Royal Anguilla Police Force arrested the teenager on Friday, 19 July, and charged him on Monday, 22 July.

He appeared in the Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 24 July, where he was granted bail with surety.

The defendant will is expected to reappear before the magistrate on 14 November, a police statement said on 25 July.

The conditions of his bail include reporting to the Valley Police Station every week, not having any contact with the complainant, and remaining well behaved.

He must also not commit any offences, stick to a curfew of 6pm to 6am and answer to the police at any time during curfew checks.

Second bail

Meanwhile, a 34-year-old woman from The Valley charged with acquiring criminal property, use of criminal property and converting criminal property was granted EC$100,000 bail.

Officers from the Royal Anguilla Police Force arrested her on Tuesday, 23 July, and charged her the same day.

She appeared in the Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 24 July, where she was granted bail with two sureties.

A police statement said she is expected to reappear before the magistrate on 12 November. They did not release her name.
