NCBA warns customers of an increase in fraudulent activity

The National Commercial Bank of Anguilla (NCBA) has issued a warning about a rise in fraudulent activity, including phishing and spoofing attempts.

In a 16 May press release, the bank urged customers to remain vigilant and take steps to protect their personal and financial information.

“There have been cases of email accounts being hacked, receipt of WhatsApp messages and calls in an effort to defraud customers,” the bank said.

“These malicious actors are also seeking to deceive NCBA customers to withdraw ill-gotten funds and to remit transfers.”

The bank reminded its customers to never share banking details – such as account numbers, PINS or passwords – with anyone.

It also urged people to avoid responding to suspicious emails or messages and to ensure they only use official, secure communication channels.

NCBA stated it will never email or text customers to request account details or passwords.

Customers are advised to:

  • Use a strong, unique password for your email account
  • Be cautious of phishing emails asking for personal or banking information
  • Never click on suspicious links or download unknown attachments
  • Regularly check your email settings for unauthorised changes

“If it seems suspicious, most likely it is – contact NCBA immediately or before you act,” the bank said.

Customers can reach the bank at service@ncbal.com or (264) 476-3091.
