Resort developers unveil Island Harbour boardwalk video rendering

The government has released a video rendering of the planned Island Harbour boardwalk and said construction expected to begin “in the coming months”.

The video was commissioned by the developers of the upcoming Savannah Bay Resort and Marina Village who are building the public space as part of their social contribution to Anguilla.

Their commitment was outlined in a memorandum of understanding signed with the government in January 2024.

The minute-long video depicts a paved seafront area with seating, sheltered spaces, landscaping, signage, a children’s play area, and parking.

It was created by Anguillian engineering consultancy Synergy Consultancy for developers Kevin Stoneburner and Phil McCabe.

A government statement posted on Facebook with the video on 7 February said construction would begin soon but did not specify a timeline, included amenities or the exact location of the boardwalk.

Resort and marina

The developers of the Savannah Bay Resort and Marina Village, published a masterplan for the 215 acre site in February 2022.

It includes a marina, port facility, two hotels, villas, condominiums, commercial and retail buildings, roadways, parking, a beach club, a yacht club, planting, a pavilion and a promenade.

In June 2023, Premier Ellis Webster said the future developers would soon be making “a commitment in writing up to the tune of US$2 million” for the boardwalk as their social contribution to the island.

A few months later, during a radio interview in November of that year, Webster said the boardwalk development would include shops, areas for arts and crafts and restaurants.

In January 2024, the developers signed a memorandum of understanding with the government for the resort and marina build, which confirmed their commitment to build the boardwalk.

During the signing event, developer Phil McCabe said the boardwalk will “improve Island Harbour as a venue, as a destination” for the residents.

He said they had been gathering the opinions of the premier, the engineer and a neighbour for the design of the project.
