Citizens of Saint Martin and Sint Maarten must present a valid passport when entering Anguilla for this year’s Anguilla Summer Festival.
Minister of Home Affairs, Kenneth Hodge, during a government press conference on 1 July said the government is no longer offering “relaxed entry” to Anguilla’s neighbours.
However, the new rule is not stopping them from coming, he stressed, but they “just have to ensure that they walk with their proper documentation”.
The immigration departments in Saint Martin and Sint Maarten are also requiring their residents have their passports available on return, Hodge said.
The Ministry of Home Affairs made the announcement in a press release on 18 June, in which it also asked boat captains to ensure that all passengers are properly recorded.
“Passengers whose names are not on the manifest should not be allowed to board the ferry,” it said.
All entries into Anguilla must be made through an official port of entry, the press release continued.
