Work to clear and prepare Crown land near Clayton J Lloyd International Airport to allow for the expansion of the runway will begin on Saturday, 7 December.
There will be an increase in heavy equipment traffic in the area immediately to the east of the airport, the Ministry of Infrastructure said in a press release on 6 December.
It asked residents of Tanglewood, Rey Hill, Wallblake, Long Ground, and The Forest, as well as the general motoring public to exercise caution.
Meanwhile, a request for expressions of interest went out on 27 November for ongoing work on the runway expansion, with a deadline of 11 December.
The services include the provision of rock blasting and excavation, earthworks, stabilised base, asphalt and concrete paving, drainage installations, pavement line markings, and runway grooving.
They also include airfield electrical and other works associated with the runway extension, widening, parallel taxiway, and apron and taxiway rehabilitation.
During a government press conference on 2 December, Haydn Hughes, who serves as infrastructure minister, said he hoped to get responses to that back quickly.
In the press release, Hughes said the government is delivering on a dream that has been more than 50 years in the making.
“One that will undoubtedly have the single greatest positive economic impact for the island and generations to come,” he said.
“I remain eternally grateful for every sacrifice the people of Anguilla make during this critical time of development.
“As we progress toward the realisation of an ‘Anguilla Reimagined,’ I know each and every one of us will find that there is much to be gained by staying the course as we sail on.”
