Anguilla to host Women’s Leeward Islands Challenge Series

Anguilla is set to host the Women’s Leeward Islands Challenge Series this December – a football competition featuring top players from across the region.

The tournament see teams from across the Caribbean competing for glory, including Anguilla, St Kitts and Nevis, the US Virgin Islands, and Antigua and Barbuda.

The Anguilla Football Association said in a press release on 13 November that it is thrilled to welcome the neighbouring islands for the action-packed and competitive event.

This tournament provides an opportunity for female players to showcase their talent, build skills, and strengthen relationships with other participating nations, the press release said.

It also represents a key milestone in Anguilla’s commitment to growing and developing women’s football at the national level.

Since October, Anguilla’s senior women’s national team has been in full training mode, practicing on a weekly basis under the guidance of head coach Ben Gooden.

The team is excited to face off against the top teams from the region, and their dedication to preparation has set a positive tone for the upcoming tournament, the release said.

“The Women’s Leeward Islands Challenge Series will be an incredible showcase of the spirit, passion, and talent of women’s football throughout the region,” the Anguilla Football Association continued.
