Anguilla’s Amarni Webster wins 2026 CTO Regional Tourism Youth Congress

Anguilla’s Amarni Webster has won the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO)’s 2026 Regional Tourism Youth Congress in Guyana.

It marks the first time an Anguillian has been awarded the title of regional junior minister of tourism in the competition’s 26-year history.

The event brought together 18 young delegates from across the Caribbean to present their ideas under the theme, ‘Caribbean tourism through the eyes of tomorrow’.

It was held in Georgetown on 8 October as part of the State of the Tourism Industry Conference (SOTIC).

The Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School student impressed judges with his ideas on developing young talent, strengthening skills and expanding employment opportunities.

A press release from the Anguilla government congratulated Webster on his “remarkable accomplishment” and for flying the island’s flag among the best young tourism minds in the Caribbean.

“This outstanding achievement highlights the talent, confidence and potential of Anguilla’s young people to excel on the regional stage,” it added.

As regional junior minister of tourism, Webster will receive mentorship from a team representing the competition’s lead sponsor, Carnival Corporation.

Second place went to Raia Cargill of Sunland Baptist Academy in the Bahamas, who will serve as junior CTO secretary general and be mentored by CTO secretary general and CEO Dona Regis-Prosper.

Jahneil McKenzie of Daryll Jordan Secondary School in Barbados placed third, while Janica Adams of the Antigua and Barbuda College of Advanced Studies received special mention.

In a press release, congress chair and 2025 winner Jolé St John of Tobago congratulated Webster and every delegate who brought their ideas, preparation and passion to this year’s event.

“These young people deserve opportunities to help shape the industry they will inherit. Investing in their development is an investment in the region’s future,” he said.

Beyond the competition, the youth programme created opportunities for delegates to connect with students, educators and youth organisations in the host destination.

In April, Webster was named Anguilla’s junior minister of tourism following his participation in the competitive National Tourism Youth Congress.

A motorcade will be held in Anguilla in his honour on Saturday, 10 October, from 10.30am, starting at Blowing Point and ending at Ruthwill Auditorium in The Valley.

“Bring your flags, bring your energy, and most importantly, bring your Anguillian pride. He made history for Anguilla. Now let’s make his homecoming unforgettable,” the Ministry of Tourism said.
