Anguilla has been selected to host the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s inaugural Sport Tourism Summit, according to tourism and sports minister Cardigan Connor.
He announced the partnership at a government press conference on 21 September, calling it a “significant opportunity” for the island to strengthen its position as a regional sports tourism leader.
The event will showcase Anguilla’s tourism product, hospitality sector, and its Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events (MICE) Programme, he said.

A formal announcement on the summit will be made at the CTO’s State of the Tourism Industry Conference in Georgetown, Guyana, taking place from 5 to 9 October.
The tourism ministry has already issued two requests for expressions of interest from businesses to support the planning and execution of the event.
They were for a conference venue host and a destination management company – both of which closed the same day as the press conference.
The date for the Sport Tourism Summit is listed on the CTO’s 2026 calendar of events and meetings, published in December 2025, as ‘to be determined’.
The CTO, headquartered in Barbados, is the Caribbean’s tourism development agency, bringing together governments and private-sector tourism stakeholders across the region.
The State of the Tourism Industry Conference is its principal forum for tourism leaders, policymakers and industry stakeholders to discuss issues shaping the region’s tourism sector.
