Anguilla’s top netball players will be competing for the prestigious Gloria Ballantyne Championship trophy in the 4th ECCB International Netball Series in Saint Lucia this September.
The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), the Caribbean Netball Association (CNA) and the St Lucia National Netball Association are hosting the competition from 21 September to 30 September.
Seven teams from the ECCB member countries – Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines – are taking part.
The Cayman Islands will join as a guest team in an effort to enhance its international netball ranking, a press release from ECCB said.
The series is set to kick off with the official opening ceremony on 22 September, followed by the opening matches at the Beausejour Indoor Facility in Gros Islet.
Joseph ‘Reds’ Perreira, former coordinator of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) sports desk, will provide commentary for netball fans, at the venue and online.
Perreira played a pivotal role in the development of the OECS/ECCB Under-23 Netball Tournament, the predecessor to the ECCB International Netball Series.
During the week, players and officials will participate in a developmental session which will focus on overcoming adversity, building resilience and stress management.
Psychologist and trainer Constance-Ann Paul Akuffo will conduct the session.
Live streaming of the tournament will be available to view at the ECCB Connects YouTube page.
