Concacaf Nations League: Anguilla narrowly loses 1-0 to Belize

Despite a commendable effort, Anguilla lost 1-0 to Belize in the team’s second Concacaf Nations League match.

The group stage clash, held at the TCIFA National Academy in the Turks and Caicos Islands on Tuesday, 10 September, marked Anguilla’s first defeat in the regional competition.

Belize’s Jordy Polanco scored the decisive goal in the 26th minute, and while Anguilla maintained a strong defensive stance throughout the remainder of the match, the team was unable to equalise.

As a result, Anguilla did not earn any points from this fixture, leaving the boys second in the group table with three points which it earned from its 2-0 victory over the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Belize leads with six points, while the Turks and Caicos Islands remains at the bottom with zero points.

Concacaf, the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football, is one of FIFA’s six continental confederations, servicing 41 member associations.
