George Hill man, 49, charged with murder of Romaine Ovardo Carby

A 49-year-old George Hill man has been charged with murder and arson in connection with the death of Romaine Ovardo Carby of South Hill.

Krishna Baijnauth was taken into police custody soon after Carby’s body was discovered near a burnt-out car just after 6am on 7 January and formally charged on 10 January.

In an earlier press release, police said preliminary investigations determined that the 25-year-old Jamaican man was “involved in a violent incident involving his motor vehicle” before his death.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, observed suspicious activity in the area, or who may have information that can assist the investigation to come forward.

The death marked the first homicide in Anguilla of 2026, with the second reported just three days later.

Clashawn Gumbs, 19, of Blowing Point died after being shot multiple times on Rendezvous Drive in Blowing Point sometime before 9.46am on Saturday, 10 January.

The Royal Anguilla Police Force is offering a reward of up to US$10,000 for information leading to a conviction.
