Adrian T Hazell Primary pupils crowned 2024 prince and princess

Kaffon Carty and Micaiah Hughes from Adrian T Hazell Primary School have been crowned the winners of the 2024 Prince and Princess Show.

Hundreds of spectators gathered at Landsome Bowl Cultural Centre to watch the colourful pageant, which took place on 4 August during the Anguilla Summer Festival.

The participants, representing seven different primary schools in Anguilla, displayed their talents, costumes, and public speaking skills during the six hour competition.

Following a well-fought contest, talented Kaffon and Micaiah were named as the overall winners, as well as ‘Best performing talent’ and ‘Best evening/formal wear’.

They were awarded prizes including flowers, trophies and an EC$6,500 cheque from sponsor KFC.

First runners up were Ahmad Richardson and Roniya Smith from Morris Vanterpool Primary School, also receiving the prize for ‘Best introduction speech’.

The second runner up prize went to Trey-Vaughn James Petty and Symiyah Bryan-Richardson from Omololu International School, who also won ‘Best promotional video’.

Prince and Princess

According to his pre-pageant biography, Kaffon, aged 12, is the only son of Godfrey and Karimah Carty, and a welcomed addition to his favourite person, Kafrey, his sister.

Known affectionately known as ‘Bo Bo’ to his sister, he is a lover of people and animals – a multitalented and smart young man, who you will find exploring the internet and researching the world.

Unlike most boys his age, he is passionate about nature, gardening, cooking, and being a handyman at home, the short biography said.

When asked what his greatest wish is, his response was to travel the world, see new places and have adventures.

According to her biography, ever since she was born Micaiah, also aged 12, has bought much joy into the lives of her family.

‘Loofy’, as she’s affectionately known, is the baby sister to Malachi and Micah and Chrislyn and Greig Hughes’ princess.

She loves to read and travel. On Sundays you can find her exploring the caves of Anguilla or jumping off the wharf in Sandy Ground, her biography said.

Her favourite genre of music is soca and her favourite soca artist is Destra. One of her fondest memories is meeting and talking to Destra.
