Sandy Ground bar targeted in armed robbery on Sunday evening

Police are searching for three men in connection with an armed robbery at Ziggy’s Bar in Sandy Ground on Sunday, 7 September.

The incident occurred just before 10pm at the premises, which is located near the Sandy Ground Police Station.

According to a press release from the Royal Anguilla Police Force, one of the men entered the building armed with what appeared to be a gun.

He demanded money before making off with cash and a cellphone.

Police have described the suspect as being slim, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, dressed in dark clothing, and wearing a hooded sweatshirt pulled over a hat.

The other two men, also dressed in hooded sweatshirt and jeans, are believed to have remained outside during the incident, the press release said.

The suspects were not masked, but were partially concealed by their hooded clothing. Following the robbery, they fled on foot in the direction of the beach.

No injuries were reported and investigations into the incident are being carried out by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The police press office told Anguilla Focus that no CCTV footage of the incident has so far been obtained.
